Supporting you in feeling better, inside and out

JILL ATKINSON
Counsellor

I’m an integrative therapist with 10 years' experience helping individuals in the NHS, charity organisations and privately. My approach to therapy is empathic and warm. I truly believe in the power of creating a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space which is yours to express and acknowledge the difficulties life can bring.
I originally trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This approach is very helpful if you’re feeling low and anxious, it helps gain insight into the day-to-day thoughts, beliefs, emotions and experiences that impact how you live your life and how these may be informed by past experiences and beliefs.
By understanding these patterns, we can begin to challenge them, do something differently and create meaningful change.
I have since trained in compassion-focused therapy and somatic therapy enabling me to help you to develop a deeper way of relating to yourself by building and strengthening self-compassion. In turn, this assists the regulation of your nervous system
I'm a strong believer in the power of the therapeutic relationship and the change it can effect by creating safety from within. Counselling can help us feel more in control of our everyday choices, to live life more purposefully and with a deeper sense of contentment.
I offer one-to-one counselling with adults — online, in person and outdoors. I have had the privilege of helping people in the following areas; anxiety, mild-moderate depression, low mood, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loneliness, social anxiety, stress, feelings of guilt and/or shame, feeling lost in the world, lack of identity, lack of purpose, abuse, stuckness and personal growth.
