Supporting you in feeling better, inside and out

Elspeth Gilliland
Counsellor

I’m an accredited BACP counsellor and clinical supervisor with a passion for supporting people to reach their potential and live their best lives. I trained as a counsellor once my children had grown up and so bring a wealth of life experience to my counselling role.
Before moving into private practice I worked for a charity, providing counselling to adults, children and young people from diverse backgrounds and with many different issues.
I work from a person-centred and integrative approach, which means that I recognise every person is unique and may need a variety of supports, strategies or techniques to help them.
I strive to create a strong, trusting and collaborative relationship with my clients whilst drawing on a range of concepts to support them in reaching their goals.
I offer 1-1 counselling sessions for anyone aged 12 and over and work with a wide range of issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, stress, loss & bereavement, confidence, self-esteem and relationship difficulties and work-related issues. I also have experience of working with survivors of sexual, emotional, psychological and physical abuse.
As well as offering counselling I provide clinical supervision to trainee and qualified therapists, counsellors, pastoral support staff and those in the helping professions.
